Artist Statement

My work has grown out of my r experimentation with mixed media. I just didn't want to use the same artistic techniques that have been used before. I wanted to create emotional statements based on a fusion of unusual materials that are interconnected with strong design and ideas. I want my viewer to be fascinated by the use of the common within the uncommon.
My materials come from hardware stores, craft shops, art supplies, wood scraps, art books, antique shops and junkyards. I can never tell what will spark my imagination.
These boxes are my emotional geometry, a psychology of the soul. The found objects and created images are reassembled to create a new way of self expression. Each one is a journey in self exploration. And with each one, I am discovering new methods ro handle paper and color.
