Artist Statement

Painting becomes a way of attending to what is felt before it is named—an embodied way of understanding. I paint from my experience as a mother. I work from daily observations—quiet domestic scenes, gestures of care, moments of rest—but these are filtered through memory and imagination.

My paintings often begin with an underpainting of natural pigments and animal glue. I want the material to carry a sense of touch and the passage of time, as if the work itself were shaped through the same physical, repetitive acts of care—holding, tending, listening—through which motherhood is lived.
