Artist Statement

I am an artist working primarily in landscape, painting specific places where I feel most alive. My work is rooted in direct experiences of place, often returning to the same environments, such as the Tetons, as a way of deepening my relationship to them. These landscapes are both physical and emotional, shaped by memory, color, and atmosphere rather than strict documentation.

Alongside this work, my practice continues to expand into other mediums and subject matter that allow for a more direct engagement with personal and cultural experience. I am drawn to intuitive processes and material choices that support emotional honesty, even when the work moves beyond what is traditionally considered beautiful or comfortable.

Color plays a central role in my work. I often push saturation and chroma as a way to heighten emotional resonance, using vibrancy to hold tension rather than decoration. Whether working in landscape or more conceptual forms, I am interested in the space where restraint and intensity coexist.

Much of my work is informed by lived experience, including the impact of growing up within a rigid belief system and the ways it shaped my understanding of womanhood, silence, and self-expression. Through my practice, I examine inherited narratives while creating space for grief, reclamation, and autonomy.

Ultimately, my work invites viewers to sit with complexity, where beauty and discomfort, devotion and harm, can exist simultaneously.
