Artist Statement

My artistic practice explores women’s resistance, bodily autonomy, and the political meaning carried by everyday materials. I work primarily with jewellery and wearable objects, using the body as both site and witness of social struggle. Rather than treating adornment as decorative, I use it as a language—something worn, carried, and encountered in daily life.

I am particularly interested in how historical and contemporary movements for women’s rights communicate through symbols, gestures, and colour. My research often connects different moments of protest across cultures, such as the suffragette movement in the UK and the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran. Materials such as hair, fabric, and metal are chosen for their cultural and emotional weight, not just their physical properties.

Through making, I aim to transform private materials into public statements, creating works that hold memory, solidarity, and resistance, while inviting viewers to consider how the body itself can become a form of quiet but persistent protest.
