Artist Statement
This ceramic sculpture takes the form of a vase whose silhouette closely resembles the human leg—both bodily and architectural. The form is shaped through wheel-throwing, a process I experience as intimate and quietly erotic, where hands, clay, and centrifugal force move in a restrained choreography. The vessel is left unglazed, allowing the ceramic body to remain raw, firm, and exposed.
A sheer stocking envelops the surface like a second skin, introducing softness, tension, and ambiguity. The contrast between the hardness of ceramic and the delicacy of fabric creates a sense of mystery and calm allure. Associated with elegance, dignity, and subtle luxury, the stocking conceals as much as it reveals, transforming sensuality into something composed and restrained, suspended between body and object.
