Genevieve Flynn
Artist Statement
Rooted in the rhythms of the natural world, this self-taught American silversmith has spent decades transforming metal into something that breathes. Drawing inspiration from flora, fauna, birds, and insects, her work carries the sinuous spirit of the Art Nouveau tradition-organic, sensuous, and alive.
Her practice is built upon the ancient techniques of chasing and repoussé, raising and fabricating, methods she has not only mastered but expanded through years of developing her own solutions to the demands of her craft. A graduate of a Kansas City trade school with further study at the University of Kansas and under master silversmiths, she brings both rigorous foundation and fearless independence to the bench.
A dedicated teach for 26 years ad a 2025 Florence Biennale Designer Award recipient, her work stands as a testament to a life lived in devoted conversation with silver, nature, and the enduring beauty of the handmade.
