Artist Statement
My work sits at the crossroads of Pop art, folk traditions, and modern colorism. I borrow the bold color blocks and graphic repetition of mid‑century and Pop artists, but filter them through a love of coastal life, tiki iconography, and tropical folklore. Crabs, fish, iguanas, palms, and patterned figures become emblems rather than illustrations, arranged in quilt-like fields of color that nod to both Latin American and Caribbean folk painting and the decorative modernists. Across portraits, seascapes, and playful animal compositions, I’m always chasing that balance between joy and atmosphere—paintings that feel as vibrant and alive as the places and stories that inspire them.
