Artist Statement

In his book “The architecture of happiness“, Alain de Botton suggests that a painting might have: “…the effect of a magnet which could pull to the surface submerge filaments of our character. The painting would act as the guardian of a mood… Encourage emotions which our predominant commitments force us to sacrifice.” As a Sunday painter, his thoughts on art parallel my own beliefs, and anchor my practice, as well as my appreciation of other artists’works.
