Artist Statement
I have been sculpting since college, 50 years ago. I am drawn to doing portraits, especially with a love of narrative sculpture and emphasizing human expression. I love the malleability of clay and working in it is meditative for me. I took up watercolor classes at Seniors Enriched Learning right before Covid hit and my sculpture teacher stopped teaching. Jan Buckley has been inspirational as a watercolor volunteer teacher there for many years. Sometimes I like to paint and sculpt these same portrait. I'm now sculpting and Blue Merle Studio in Avondale Estates with Susan Krause and a teacher and mentor.
