Artist Statement

I began painting when the advent of digital photography made it too difficult to print my own photographs. I don’t find the digital process inspiring. I turned to painting from my photographs and have found a new outlet for my imagery. I'm working from photographs I've taken, in many cases, years ago. Rather than making a photo-realistic painting, I'm striving for a more personal, impressionistic result.

My work focuses on places that, for some reason, have caught my eye. The subject matter varies between buildings and structures to "found" still life.
