Artist Statement

My pieces utilize photography by merging and cross pollinating both traditional analog processes and digital technology. In addition to straight, landscape and architectural photography using either film or digital means, I also use a variety of experimental processes including Polaroid, Cyanotype, solvent & gel medium transfers and various mixed media methods to build my images. Through an intuitive process I decide how an image is to be presented, what techniques would be best for the tone I want to communicate and what surface would best suit that image building from there. The process of either manually printing or transferring images allows what could be a very static experience requiring time sitting in front of a computer screen to expand and become more visceral. Some are meant to realize an epic moment or are a portal to a more personal mystery. My images celebrate the intangibility of memory, time and the effects the elements can have on an object.
