Artist Statement
Through my work, I explore the candid moments of scenery, womanhood, memories and the ways in which color can take up space. I use a blend of subjects to convey emotions and texture, and I aim to pull the viewer into a scene in which they feel entranced to put themselves. My work is inspired by my own memories, and also by imagining a place in which I’d rather be. By giving each piece a personal connection I can make the painting feel more authentic. Often, I use very vibrant and saturated color to draw attention to a figure or an important part of the scene. This helps me guide the viewer to where I want them to pay closest attention. In my paintings, I play with light and dark shades to identify focal points and create a mood.
