Artist Statement

My work explores ideas of movement, frameworks, and perspective. I’m interested in our internal journeys, the multifaceted nature of the human experience, and the ways in which seemingly conflicting ideas can coexist in harmony. By using fragments of my past prints and photographs to make mixed-media collages, and by crafting assemblages with found objects, I create pieces that convey the influence of our pasts and our surroundings on our present experiences. My practice of repurposing traditional and domestic materials reflects my experiences growing up and living on the US-Mexico border, a region in a constant state of movement and cultural exchange.
