Artist Statement

I sew bags of all sizes, from small coin purses to larger tote bags, as well as home goods such as catchall trays, wine totes and organizing bins. 100% of my items are original items. For smaller items such as coin purses or pencil cases I make more than one that are the same, but almost all of my large tote bags, crossbody bags, wine totes and home accessories are one of a kind items. I sew with cotton, wool, canvas, leather and cork. Many of my bags feature Pendleton wool remnants which I source from the mill in Oregon. The leather I use I purchase from a furniture maker in North Carolina. I love the challenge of figuring out how to turn scraps or remnants in to beautiful, unique items to be used everyday. I also love mixing patterns, so many of my pieces will feature florals and strips or patchwork designs. I work hard to make my studio as sustainable as possible so I am always coming up with new ways to use every last bit of fabric.
