Artist Statement

Polymer clay is a chameleon material, and since I started working with it seriously these last 5 years or so, I’m only more intrigued. The versatility of this medium constantly inspires me to experiment with sculpting, carving, molding, forming, and all manner of surface techniques.
Perhaps the what makes this medium so ideal for art jewelry is its utility just as much as its versatility. Wearing large earrings, stunning brooches or statement necklaces is a joy when the pieces are finely constructed from this lightweight, tactile material. Pair those attributes with hypo-allergenic findings (niobium, titanium), and this is truly the *comfortable* and bold jewelry that many women dream of.
Working in this medium has done so much to evolve my artistic sensibilities. Polymer clay can be 3D and 2D, functional or purely decorative. I delight in working with it to explore the intersection of modern, structural forms paired with organic, fluid detail.
