Artist Statement

I am primarily a nature photographer, and I spend a lot of time watching birds. I am interested in the play of light, direct and indirect, and particularly reflected light, on my subjects and their surroundings. I am always trying to catch birds in the act, doing something unusual, interacting with other birds, doing all the things they are created to do, from eating, flying, preening, fighting, mating... I would like my photographs to cause the viewer to take an interest in the natural world, maybe to become as amazed by birdlife as I am. I think it is good the soul.
