Artist Statement

I’m Dustin, a glass artist based in Fishtown, Philadelphia, with over 12 years of experience working with glass. I founded Bambino Glassware in 2020 after years of refining my skills in traditional glassblowing studios and developing a deep respect for the craft and its history.

Early in my career, I experienced a serious accident while blowing glass that resulted in the total loss of vision in my left eye. While life-altering, that moment ultimately strengthened my commitment to glassmaking and reshaped my approach to the work—requiring greater intention, focus, and trust in the process.

Today, Bambino Glassware is truly a family operation. I work alongside my mom, whom I personally taught to blow glass, in our studio in Clayton, New Jersey. Together, we handblow every piece we produce. My work is deeply rooted in traditional techniques, including the use of antique cast iron blow molds that I restore and bring back into use. These historic tools allow each piece to carry a sense of legacy while remaining firmly grounded in contemporary design and everyday function.
