Artist Statement

The organic process of painting allows me to work instinctually and spontaneously. Leaving room for the process to reveal surprising discoveries of shapes and textures is very important to me. Ideally, my painting’s story reflects back to the viewer and, when shared with an audience, takes on new meaning based on the viewer’s own perception.
My work often displays bold high contrast colors working in harmony with the composition of shapes. There is a strong emphasis on overlaying or peeling away layers of paint and textures revealing the painting’s own organic, life span.
