Melanie Sexton

Artist Statement

Melanie and G. Caleb Sexton are both originally from the Southeastern US (South Carolina and Alabama, respectively.) In 2023, while living in the Austin, TX metro area, the couple started taking trips to New Mexico and Arizona. So inspired and enamored by the multitude of colors and shapes of the desert landscapes, they started tufting pieces that represented the beautiful nature experiences they had. In 2025, Melanie and G. Caleb decided to make Arizona their permanent home and settled in San Tan Valley.
Since 2023, both Melanie and G. Caleb have actively come together to collaborate on tufted art pieces depicting the American Southwest. Their work has been featured in galleries and public spaces in the Austin, TX metro area. So inspired by the Sonoran Desert landscape, the couple decided in 2025 to settle in San Tan Valley, AZ, where they depict the majestic beauty in yarn during nights and weekends.
