Siobhan Kiernan
Artist Statement
I am an Irish-born artist living in Stamford, CT. Originally trained in law, I transitioned to a creative practice that combines painting, public art, and jewelry design.
Color is the first thing that hits people when they see my pieces. The pieces are full of color, and I hope the viewer sees the vibration of energy. I take inspiration from the illuminated manuscripts such as 'The Book of Kells'. Fascinated by the extravagant detail and Zoomorphic figures in these works, I worked to develop my own modern expression of these. Using Celtic motifs throughout, I draw upon themes of eternity, history, family, fertility, and femininity.
Through Siobhán Kiernan Designs, I created handcrafted jewelry featuring intricate beadwork, Swarovski crystals, Miyuki beads, and vibrant color palettes.
My work has been exhibited in both Dublin and Connecticut, and I have participated in public art projects in the Stamford area, bringing creativity into community spaces.
