Artist Statement

When I moved away from photography I returned to drawing in graphite, color pencil, ink and watercolor. My interest in the natural world as source material for my artistic expression continues. Nature and natural forms become embedded in the course of our lives. Trees, roots, stones, and more reveal themselves as part of us as they come into focus. My intent is to take these elements & incorporate them into a new history of remembrance that reflects on nature and our place in the natural world. This work will explore new ground and even though there is a personal quality here, the universal aspect is not lost on me.
