Artist Statement

As an artist, I am often led by both my ADHD and desire to create. When I don’t create, I feel like there’s something boiling inside of me. The act of creation is not just a release, it’s like breathing.

My work is influenced by the world around me – literature, music, nature, social issues, gaming, and so much more. Nothing is really off the table when it comes to what might spark an idea. More often than not, I will start with a rough idea, maybe even a detailed sketch, but if the piece wants to move in a different direction, I listen.

The ADHD is strong, leading to a combination of techniques, styles and materials. While the majority of my work consists of some form of beadwork, I also utilize fiber, paint, metal, and whatever the piece may require in order to get it where it needs to go. I am constantly learning new techniques, while also staying true to my love of tiny, if not infuriating, seed beads.
