Gabrielle Lynn
Artist Statement
A transplant from England, UK Gabrielle owes her love of fabric to her Mother….and love of all things re-purposed to her Father, who introduced her to the ‘one person’s trash is another’s treasure’ mindset at a very young age! She was destined to bring those together as Reinvented Threads, adding her love for the environment into the mix. Her primary source of inspiration is today’s throw-away culture, and she tries to convey the message of social responsibility in her work, which uses found materials, those that might otherwise end up in landfills.
Reinventing fabrics and textiles, rescued from thrift stores, yard and estate sales, Gabby has an eye for the eclectic, mixing colors and materials in her bags, hats and scarves. Found buttons, pins and broken jewelry, and words to inspire find their way onto her unique one-of-a-kind creations. The ‘peace’ symbol/word can always be found on her quirky ‘Piece’ bags, created from off-cuts of fabric, which might otherwise be considered waste. The very nature of how the fabric and materials are found, means that everything is a one off, as unique as the person who takes it home to love!
