Ken Christensen

Artist Statement

I am primarily a landscape painter, combining my love of nature with my love of art. My earliest and greatest influence on my art was Vincent Van Gogh. I love his bold style, rich brushwork, and clean colors. Over time, and having lived in France, I became enamored with the French Fauvist painters, especially Albert Marquet, as well as Andre Derain, Henri Manguin, and Paul Signac, among others. I strive to heighten reality by emphasizing the light and colors of a scene. I also try to make my art personal, reflecting my tastes and personal vision of what I find interesting. I strive to create paintings that have strength and a presence and that will continually delight the viewer.
