Artist Statement

ARTIST STATEMENT

Undoubtedly, recent events have turned most of our worlds upside down, inside out, making us nervous and apprehensive of taking a meek step forward. As we watched this world pandemic condense into our own personal communities and spaces of comfort, I was compelled to represent it in a visual form unlike my works of the past. Futuristic and bleak in imagery, these sculptures capture the essence of what may be our human recovery, if we listen to brave and new mindsets.
Thinking, imagining, and best hopes for the future seem bleak with our limited, unchartered pandemic horrors. Specifically, the future of our human destiny regardless of race, religious origin, gender, or political safe holds, weekly dangles in a contagious wind. As world leaders turned a blind eye, pointed fingers, and muddled the truths, humans were left to fend for themselves. Promises of vaccines, countries topping the apex, and hopes of life returning to a dismal normal became what most people blindly were promised, prayed for, and expected. As days grew into weeks and weeks edged into months, humans on this globe witnessed the reality of an evil, uncontrolled virus, and governments that were not only misleading, but egregiously dishonest. The fury and peace of world leaders to capture a cure, or hold ignorant on false answers soon became a very dangerous form of governing. In essence, the world was left to the meek, the basics of sound instinct, and the immune vigor of our uncorrupted young stock. As the world floundered and pessimistic fears became the norm, a select strain flourished. Unexplained by the best of scientific intellects, the selected strain multiplied in strength and numbers. labeled by reluctant world intellects, they were the PVIC. Post Virus Infant Coalition. This group were soon trusted and praised for to lead, govern, and patrol. World leaders, religious gurus, and common man put their faith in this new world order.
In short, I have merely captured a snippet of a larger army of immune, fearless warriors. I have chosen two units representational of a larger force. In a continuum of the unknown, we must put our faith and trust in the unstained, uninfected, youth of our future…
