Artist Statement

Beautiful tapestry purses & bags designed using my original patterns, handmade with gorgeous tapestry. First I make detailed sketches of the purse showing the location of the pockets, zippers, straps and buckles. Next, I visualize the finished item and make the actual pattern pieces which is very involved design process considering the geometry of the item. Usually, there is a key primary pattern piece that all other pattern pieces relate to. My new complex designs of the backpack/purse are very involved geometric puzzles with over 20 inter linking pieces. After several revisions I get the purse to look just perfect from a geometric stand point. Next I hand cut the tapestry fabric and my wife and I sew up the finished purses. Fabric choices are critical, we take care in choosing the fabric construction, colors, weight and textures that will bring the rich luminosity and functionality that our customers desire. My Eagle Nest chairs are designed and constructed using the same process.
