Artist Statement

Through a process that combines paint and collage, I build visual layers to accrue a tactile depth, with each painting calling attention to its own materiality. Some areas in my paintings remain semi-transparent, with other areas thick and opaque with strata. It is not my intention that the order of material buildup in my paintings remains legible.
