Artist Statement

My mission as an artist is to create work that serves as a language of the soul, fostering in viewers awareness of themselves and the world. I strive to find strength and beauty in simplicity. My primary influences are the landscapes and coastal regions of Ireland and Maine, especially Ireland, which evokes a deep, almost mystical response in me. The spiritual aspect of my Celtic roots also informs my art, allowing me to express depth and tone in my creations. My artistic process is fluid, beginning with sketches, drawings, and photographs. Rather than capturing a precise image, I aim to convey the mystical essence of the landscape or the sea. I select the medium and color palette based on the mood I wish to express, allowing the materials to co-create with me. This approach often uncovers buried memories and feelings. Watercolor, in particular, is a unique medium that requires less control for a greater impact.
