Artist Statement

I have always loved the sea - the smell of the ocean, the sound of the waves, and the gulls. I put this work & ideas into some of my paintings. I try to make my creations look like some place I would like to either live, visit, or explore, whether it be the beach, overseas, or even my neighborhood. I have dabbled in pottery, creating bowls, dishes, & other object of art that need a viewer’s imagination. I started with oils, beginning with a gift set from my Dad in High School, then onto watercolors, and finally acrylics.

My art career started back in grammar school when I won an award for a painting for Fire Prevention week in sixth grade. In High School I won an award for painting Robert Frost’s “Early Spring”, where I learned from my talented teacher, Mr. Marone. Classes also included picking up skills from Foster Caddell, a renowned artist from Voluntown Ct., and more recently, art classes in Greenwich TC from skilled artist and teacher, Nomi Silverman (put in link to Nomi’s website).

I have contributed works inspired by the styles of Salvador Dali, Jamie Wyeth, and Claude Monet. I am also a member of the Greenwich Art Association.
