Artist Statement

Charlie Mcilvane works in oil and acrylic on board and canvas. HIs compositions are intuitive spontaneous arrangements of form and color. His purest approach is linked to expression in a development of visual vocabulary.

Charlie Mcilvane also works in wood fabricating shapes and forms into abstract sculptural objects. His focus is to create works of balance and fluidity in composition. He explores sculpture cutting and shaping wood from selected natural wood. The assembly of fashioned shapes create an interplay of motion and gesture in line and form. The choice of color enhances the finished work.
