Artist Statement

I have been creating art all my life. I am from Syracuse, New York and taught art for 26 years. After moving to Az I continue to paint and teach art at Artists By the Lake club in Sun City, Az.
I have been working in soft pastels for 25 years and continue to use that medium. For variety I also use watercolor ,Alcohol ink and acrylics
I love plein air painting and Arizona gives me the atmosphere of the desert to try. I am also learning to paint all new, subjects like rodeos, horses, cowboys and cactus. Color is a driving force for me; the brighter the better! Katherine Graham wrote: “When you love what you do and you feel that it matters, how could anything be more fun? “. This describes my life-long relationship to art.
