Artist Statement

I started over 30 years ago on a path to discover my expression in art as it is related to my first love, wildlife, I continue that journey everyday. My work depicts wildlife through the simplest lines, shapes and designs that I can create without losing representation, gesture or attitude to push the limits of anatomical accuracies n order to emphasize a stronger design, finding myself, interpreting, representational shapes and pushing them to boundaries of near abstraction.

I cast primarily in bronze, but feel my simplest and sometimes strongest designs are achieved when I am sculpting for high polish stainless steel and carving stone. My lines and shapes are kept to a minimum in order to draw in the viewer, causing them to become more involved in the interpretation of my work. I find this connection to be very inspiring.

I am constantly humbled by the awesome affects that are created in nature and the creatures that I observe there on a daily basis. I find an unlimited supply of ideas within the natural world. I continue to explore those inspirations through my art everyday.

I hope to create the best possible sculpture that I can, by building strong designs through shape, line, texture and color. Always pushing my artistic boundaries to achieve what has not been done before, reaching out and experimenting with new designs and gestures. Creating sculptures that are well orchestrated, balanced, emotionally interesting,

Tim Cherry exhibits his artwork in nationally know galleries, shows and exhibitions across the United States and Canada, winning many prestigious awards. He has placed dozens of monumental sculptures, indoors and out, they can be found in private, public and corporate collections. Tim was born in Calgary, Alberta - Canada and raised in Nelson and Prince George, British Columbia. For over 32 years, Tim has lived in Branson, Missouri with his wife Linda, and Issa-Bella the giant schnauzer.
