Artist Statement

Selene Nunez-Cruz is a Philadelphia-based artist originally from Mexico City whose vibrant, layered paintings explore the connection between humanity and the natural world. Influenced by her Mexican heritage and experiences living across cultures, her work reflects a belief in art as a universal language that transcends boundaries of race, gender, and geography.

A self-taught artist with a background in science, Selene blends intuition, observation, and ecological awareness in her practice. Her work celebrates organic forms, transformation, and the systems that shape both nature and human experience.

She is the founder of Art_Gossip, a platform dedicated to fostering artistic collaboration and supporting emerging and mid-career artists through exhibitions and community engagement. Committed to inclusion and equity, Selene continues to use art as a tool for dialogue, connection, and social impact.
