Artist Statement

Anne Morrow Lindbergh's book, Gift From the Sea, has affected me profoundly.. Her book addresses the struggle to free oneself from society's false trappings and entanglements. She uses the beach, and assorted shells she finds there, as metaphors for the different stages of life. I have used her words as jumping off points for my own attempts to visually portray these struggles.
