Artist Statement

The peace and satisfaction I feel while creating art has been a blessing in my life since I was a young girl.

My goal is to capture the scene accurately while using my skills as an artist to express my emotional response through painting.

I desire to evoke a sense of familiarity and connection for those who view my art.

There are so many facets to ordinary things in life that intrigue me, so I do not concentrate on one specific category.

People interacting together or with me the artist, landscapes, flowers, still life and interior scenes have all provided inspiration for me.

Whatever the subject matter, my style is realistic and straightforward. I use traditional methods of drawing and painting as the foundation of a piece, and keep my focus on composition, value and color as I bring it to completion.

As I continue to learn about life and art while finding beauty in ordinary moments, I hope to improve my ability to share my response to those moments for others to enjoy.
