Artist Statement

The first thing that one notices about my work is my passion for what makes us unique. I go beyond the surface and imbue the figures in my paintings with history, relationships, dreams, and pieces of myself.

I work in series going from theme to theme and delving deeper each time: Women, Parties, Fashion, and Relationships. I paint in a bravura style with a skewed but consistent imagination.

After decades of working in tight intimate spaces, I am currently making work about being outside, opening a new visual vocabulary. Perhaps because of my mature years, this project has helped me to feel grounded in the cycle of life, no ceiling and the earth beneath my feet.
