Artist Statement

Since I was in my twenties I have been carrying a camera everywhere I go. For many years my preferred medium was black-and-white and I did my own darkroom work. For the last decade I have been using a digital camera, although I still keep my old SLR loaded with Tri-X and ready to go. I'm proud to call myself a photographer. Photography is a unique art form for its immediacy and ability to capture a fleeting moment in time or a deliberate study of color, light and shadow. Paradoxically, at once simple and complex, a photograph allows us to pause and view a little, unique, slice of the world.
