Artist Statement
I take photos of everything that catches my eye, and when I’m ready to start a new piece I sort through my huge photo collection for reference images that resonate at that moment. Although my work is based on reference photos, the actual image I make is more of an interpretation. I add, omit, and shift elements to get the result I want. In the last decade or so I have found that watercolor and graphite are the two mediums that most suit my art making. Although each of my pieces has emotional meaning for me, I invite the viewer to fill in their own narrative.
