Through the Lens: Presence and Absence

ArtWork’s Gallery invites you to submit photographic works to our third exhibition dedicated to the art of photography.

What we see in a photograph is often shaped by what is missing. Presence / Absence invites images that explore the relationship between visibility and implication—spaces that suggest human presence, objects that stand in for memory, or scenes where absence speaks as strongly as presence.

All photographic capture (camera/photogram/scanography) and printing processes (alternative/experimental, traditional/darkroom, photo based etching, intaglio, screen printing) are eligible, as are photo-collage, and photographic mixed-media. AI-generated images will not be considered. Entries must be original works not previously shown at ArtWorks Gallery.

This show will be juried by James Gehrt.

1. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

2. Each artist may submit up to 3 original pieces per entry. We may restrict the # of accepted pieces to 2 based on space and # of pieces submitted.

3. Ineligible Work: AI generated art, work previously juried into an ArtWorks Gallery show, and work created under instruction.

4. Artwork will be juried for acceptance based on the criteria for this show using the image(s) submitted with registration.

ENTRY FEE
There is a one-time, non-refundable entry fee for submissions: $25 for one piece, $35 for up to three pieces.

WHEN APPLYING:

- The gallery will receive a 30% commission on all work sold. Please price your work accordingly!

- NOTE: The TITLE field will automatically fill in with filename of your uploaded photo (instructions for filename below). PLEASE EDIT THIS FIELD! Delete your first and last names and ensure that only the TITLE of the piece as you would like it to appear on the gallery label is entered. The title can be seen by the juror. In order to blind jury, your name must not be included.

- PLEASE!!! Check spelling, capitalization, and the price of each piece before submitting your work. Also, check the spelling of your description, and your email address too! This data is directly used to populate our Online Show and to reach you!.

- Please! Enter ONLY the outer frame dimensions in the dimension field: H W D (if 3-d). We ask for the framed width twice...please bear with us and fill it. There is a good reason for this!

PHOTO REQUIREMENTS:
- Name your photos before uploading: FirstName_LastName_Title

- Please ensure that images of your artwork are of good quality, are representative of the original, and exclude the frame. These images will be used by the juror and if accepted, will be displayed in our online gallery.

- Only one image for 2-D work necessary.

- Uploaded images must:

++ have a file size minimum of 2MB (2000KB) and maximum of 6MB (6000KB), otherwise the system will not allow it to upload,

++ be in.jpg, .png, or .gif format,

++ have a minimum of 1000 pixels on the shortest side.

ACCEPTED WORK
- 2-D work must be framed, and securely wired across for hanging.

- Work must be hand-delivered to ArtWorks Gallery on specified dates. If mailing in work, a prepaid return label (UPS please!) must be included. Work must be received by end of day the Monday prior to the opening to be included.
