*Rules & Regulations*
WFA considers the enforcement of its rules to be its exclusive right and responsibility. Adherence to these rules and regulations during the show is necessary to ensure a high quality show for artists and patrons. Failure to comply with these rules and regulations may result in removal of work on display and for sale, and/or expulsion from the show and ineligibility for jurying into future shows. If an artist is removed from the show for a failure to comply with the rules, no refunds will be issued.
*Eligible Mediums*
While WFA does not require specific numbers of participants in each media category, it is important that there is diversity in media both for the patrons and the selling artists. ALL WORK MUST BE ORIGINAL TO THE ARTIST. NO BUY-SELL OR MASS PRODUCTION IS ALLOWED IN ANY CATEGORY.
= New Media Art = (new category)
* Original digital art, computer graphics, computer animation, virtual art, Internet art, interactive art, video games, computer robotics, 3D printing. All work has to be original, salable, and created by the artist.
= 2-D Mixed Media
* 2-D art using multiple media, such as collage, found-object wall pieces, bas-relief, or combining elements of painting, printmaking, drawing, photography
= 3-D Mixed Media
* 3-D art crafted or assembled using a variety of media, including sculpture, paper, basketry, etc.
= Clay
*Artwork using clay as the primary medium, including, but not limited to, porcelain, stoneware, raku, etc. Any molds used must have been created by the artist.
= Drawing
* Art that is created with pastels, pencils, charcoal, crayon, etc. Drawing can be done on any format including canvas, paper, etc. Limited editions of 250 or less signed and numbered are allowed for sale.
= Glass
*Art using Glass as the primary medium in any form. Includes glass, furniture, containers, wall sculpture, blown, torched, kiln work, cast glass, etched, fused, Plexiglas, etc.
= Jewelry - All jewelry items will be considered a single category.
* Beads, not created by the artist - Includes jewelry beads not created by the artist such as crochet, wire wrapping, strung beads, 'Stringers' (artists who string beads on one or more strands to form jewelry, and seed bead wearable jewelry art (must be arranged in an artistic form).
* Fine - Wearable art in the form of jewelry using precious stones, molds, and pure metals; including lost cast wax process or molds created by the applying artist.
* Ornamental - Wearable art in the form of jewelry that uses materials not specified in fine jewelry, glass, or beads not created by the artist. Examples of ornamental jewelry art include sawdust, enameling, metal punching, silver clay, plastic, watches, etc. All designs must be original to the artist.
* Glass - Wearable art in the form of jewelry that uses glass as the primary medium. Techniques include cast glass, fused, blown, torched, and kiln techniques.
= Leather
* Leather as the primary medium in the form of functional (belts, bags, shoes, hats, wallets) or decorative (wall hangings, sculpture art). Leather can be cut, stamped, sewn, embossed, or embellished according to the artists original design. All designs must be unique to the artist.
= Metal
* Art that has metal as the main medium and that is modified into wall art, furniture, home decor, statues, etc.
= Painting - All painting items will be considered a single category.
* Acrylic & Oil - Painting using oil or acrylic paints on canvas, or limited edition of fewer than 250 signed and numbered, high quality prints or giclees. Painting can be done on any format such as canvas, paper, masonite, etc.
* Watercolor - Paintings using watercolor as the main medium or limited edition of fewer than 250 signed and numbered high quality prints or giclees. Painting can be done on any format including canvas, paper, etc.
= Photography
* Art using a camera, including black and white or color digital or original prints from negatives. Images must be original to the artist, but may include limited editions of fewer than 250 high quality signed and numbered reproduction prints.
= Printmaking
* Art created by a stamp including lithography, screen printing woodcuts, engravings, etching, mezzotint, aquatint, drypoint, and others. Each piece must be from the originally cut stamp and be non-wearable art. Limited editions of fewer than 250 signed and numbered reproduction prints are allowed for sale.
= Sculpture
* Art that is three-dimensional in nature, including large pieces from any medium. Sculpture pieces are one of a kind or limited series. Any molds used must have been created by the artist.
= Fiber Art / Textiles
* Fiber fabricated into functional or non-functional items, either handmade or hand-painted. Stamps used for painting must be created by the artist and unique to their art. Materials and dyes may be purchased to create this art.
= Wood
* Art which uses wood as the primary medium, including furniture, pens, games, toys, containers, musical instruments, decorative objects, etc. No buy-sell items such as manufactured cutting boards are allowed. Only items made originally by the artist are allowed.
= Handcrafted / Artisan Consumables
* Handmade soaps, lotions, aromatherapy, edibles, etc.
*Entry Guidelines*
*The Application Process*
= All work displayed must be the artist's own work and must be for sale.
= Booths must be attended by the artist on both days of the festival. Assistants are welcome, but commercial agents, representatives, dealers, or hired salespeople may not replace the artist's presence at the festival. All artists/applicants must maintain complete responsibility for the design of the work and the associated business.
= A limited quantity of offset prints and mechanical reproductions are allowed. All offset prints and mechanical reproductions must be clearly labeled as such and must be limited to a maximum of 20% of total booth display area. For photographers and printmakers, gallery quality matted or framed work is expected. Photographic prints must be made from the artist's original negative/file.
= Each artist must submit a total of five (5) digital images. Four (4) images must represent the type of work that will be displayed and sold at Wilsonville Festival of Arts. The fifth image must show the booth display with work visible.
= Only applications with five (5) digital images will be accepted.
= Submitted images must be AT LEAST 1920 pixels in width, in JPG format. Images may be wider than 1920 pixels.
= Individual digital image JPG files must be LARGER than 100 kB (kilobytes) *and* SMALLER than 5 MB (megabytes) in size.
= Choose only one medium category on the entry form that most closely reflects submitted work. If you are applying in more than one category, you will need to fill out one full application for each category.
= Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
= Wilsonville Festival of Arts maintains a waiting list. If accepted as an alternate, each artist will be given a booth assignment as spaces become available. The booth fee will be due at the time of acceptance. Alternate artists may request, in writing, to be taken off the wait list at any time, but can expect to remain on the wait list as late as May 29, 2020.
*Art NOT Eligible*
= Art reproduced from works of any artist other than the applicant
= Commercially produced merchandise
= Works produced from patterns or kits created by other than the artist.
= Items cast from pre-manufactured molds
= T-shirts
= CDs or other recordings
= Clothing and accessories that are not hand-crafted
= Commercially produced items that are embellished or altered by the artist
= Any item deemed by Wilsonville Festival of Arts to be buy/sell
NOTE: Wilsonville Festival of Arts reserves the right to final interpretation of commercial status or appropriateness for the festival.
*Fees*
= Application Fee (Non-refundable) is $20.00.
NOTE: Application packages (entry form and images) submitted by mail, rather than via Wilsonville Festival of Arts' EntryThingy online application process, will be subject to an additional $8 Fee for hand processing.
= Booth Fee
* $130 for single space (10' x 10')
* $260 for double space (20' x 10')
* $25 extra for corner space (corner spaces are limited and will be assigned in order of jury score)
* $30 for electric (most booth locations will not have access to power)
NOTE: Booth Fees will be due upon acceptance. Artists will be notified of their status, and will have 10 days from notification to submit their full booth fee by CHECK or PAYPAL (see Additional Instructions below), or forfeit their space at the festival. Artists on the waiting list will be offered any canceled or forfeited spaces, and booth fees will be due immediately upon acceptance, either by CHECK or PAYPAL.
*Selection Process By Jury*
Artists invited to show their work are chosen by an independent jury of professional artists. Prior participation does not guarantee acceptance. The jury will review all qualified entries. Entries are assigned numbers, and no names are used during the selection process to ensure impartiality. PLEASE DO NOT include your name or business name in your artist statement. Each entry receives a numerical score from each juror, and the highest scores within each medium category are selected. The jury's decisions are final and are not subject to appeal.
*Space Assignments & Other Logistics*
= If accepted, one 10 x 10' space will be assigned for each media category.
= Sharing a booth is not allowed; one single space per artist or team only.
= Artists are responsible for two single spaces if accepted in two media categories; we do not permit two media within a single booth space.
= Collaborations between two artists resulting in a single body of work qualify for a single space. In this case, both names must be on the application (Artist and Partner).
= Double booth spaces (20' x 10') are available for an additional $125. Please indicate on your application if you are applying for a double space.
*Festival Site*
= All structures must be provided by artists.
= Tents must be certified fire-resistant and may be subject to inspection by local officials.
= If accepted, WFA can offer an electrical outlet for an additional $30. Please note this in your online payment as well.
= Absolutely no generators will be allowed.
= Artists will be asked to keep all noise (including radios, background music, played instruments, etc.) at an absolute minimum in consideration of other artists and patrons.
= This two-day, outdoor festival takes place outdoors, on paved surfaces which prohibit anchoring any supports into the ground or assuring a space without slope. Please plan accordingly by bringing any necessary weights and/or materials for leveling tent legs or displays.
= Wilsonville police and private security will be on site from 7pm-7am both Friday and Saturday nights; however, we strongly encourage the removal of all works and money from your booth overnight, and we cannot be responsible for lost, damaged or stolen goods.
*Special Requests*
Many returning artists request specific booth locations, and while WFA does try to accommodate these requests, there are no guarantees. Festival layout is subject to change.
*During the Show*
= A hospitality station with refreshments and restrooms are available during most festival hours.
= Volunteer booth sitters are available during festival hours.
= Parking near the festival site is available.
*WFA Artist's Calendar*
= Application deadline ($20) submitted by 11:59pm April 30, 2020.
= Deadline for Booth Fee Payments - within 10 days of notification
= Deadline for 50% Booth Fee Refund - 5pm April 15, 2020, upon receipt of written cancellation. (No refunds will be provided for any reason after April 15.)
= Show information packet will be e-mailed out May 2020.
