WHAM Art Center proudly presents The SQUARE DARE 2025, a dynamic exhibition that invites artists to explore the creative possibilities of the square. From tiny 1'x1' works to bold 60'x60' statements, this show embraces the beauty and challenge of working within equal dimensions. Artists across all styles and mediums are encouraged to submit pieces that reflect their unique voice while working within this powerful geometric constraint.

The square format may be less common, but it's full of creative potential. Its equal proportions challenge artists to approach composition, focal points, and visual movement differently. Whether you're experimenting with this shape for the first time or returning to it with fresh ideas, this is a great opportunity to push your creative boundaries. Selected artworks will be featured in the WHAM gallery and highlighted online, offering valuable visibility to eclectic collectors and art lovers alike.

Please be mindful of the size restrictions. ALL AI submissions will be disqualified.

Artists should not submit any art previously included in any exhibit at WHAM. This includes the Member Art Exchange as well as shows in the WHAM Front Gallery. No work created with AI will be accepted.
This is a juried exhibit. Entering the exhibit does not guarantee that your artwork will be accepted into the exhibit.

3-D Artwork Requirements:
All 3-D artwork must have square dimensions - each side must be equal in length (e.g., 1 in. x 1 in. x 1 in., 24 in. x 24 in. x 24in.). Submissions that do not meet this requirement will not be accepted. Artwork must be small enough to be moved by one or two people, fit through a standard 36-inch-wide doorway, and weigh no more than 70 pounds.

2-D Artwork Requirements:
All 2-D artwork must fit within a square format, with equal height and width (e.g., 12 in. x 12 in., 24 in. x 24 in.). The maximum size allowed is 60 in. x 60 in.
Artwork must arrive ready to hang with secure, built-in or attached hanging hardware. Sawtooth hangers are not permitted.
If artwork is designed to hang off the wall and does not include appropriate hardware upon arrival, it will be returned and not exhibited.
Maximum weight: 30 pounds.

The entry fee is $40 and covers up to five artwork submissions per registrant. This fee can be paid on the WHAM website (WHAM-Art.Org) under the Pay Here Button or by sending a check made out to WHAM. The address is The WHAM Arts Center, Attn: Diane Freeman, 16560 N. The fee will not be refunded, in part or in whole, for any reason.

To upload photos, use jpeg format no smaller than 1mb and no larger than 5mb. Name your photo files by using your last name in the title such as freeman1 and freeman 2. These digital images are viewed by jurors and curators during this selection process. Use Photoshop or other programs to size your entry and save it to your digital device.
