The Wassenberg Art Center invites photographers to submit original work for our annual photography exhibit. This exhibition celebrates the diversity of photographic art, showcasing everything from breathtaking natural scenes and expressive portraits to striking architecture, creative abstracts, and traditional film photography.

Please note: This is a physical, in-person exhibition. If your work is accepted, the original artwork must be delivered to the Wassenberg Art Center by the artwork delivery deadline of September 6, 2026. Artists who are not within driving distance are welcome to ship their accepted work; however, all shipping costs, including return shipping, are the sole responsibility of the artist. The Wassenberg Art Center is not responsible for any loss or damage that occurs during shipping to or from the exhibition. Please consider these requirements before submitting your entry.

JUDGING: This is a juried exhibit; entry does not guarantee exhibition. Decision of jurors is final. Please provide a valid email address to receive results. Results will not be mailed.

LIABILITY AND RESERVATION OF RIGHTS: All possible care will be taken in handling of entries, but neither The Wassenberg Art Center Association nor the Van Wert County Foundation will be held responsible for loss or damage. The Wassenberg Art Center reserves the right to reproduce any photograph or images of the exhibit participants for the purposes of publicity. Submission of entry shall imply an agreement on the part of the photographer to all of the above conditions.

AGREEMENT: Submission of a work for jury shall constitute an agreement to comply with all the conditions set forth. The WAC and juror reserve the right to a final selection of accepted works. Decisions made by the WAC and juror are final. The juror and/or WAC may exercise the right to reject any work for any reason without explanation. When hanging the show, the WAC is the only entity that will decide where art work will be displayed.

RIGHTS & REPRODUCTION: The WAC reserves the right to photograph exhibited work and use the photograph’s or the artist’s entry images in both print and electronic materials for publicity,
promotion, education, and grant proposals.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Photographers may submit a maximum of (10) photographs for consideration. No more than two (2) per
category. Photographs must be the artist’s original work. No photographs previously exhibited in a Wassenberg exhibit will be eligible. No photographer’s names, logo or title visible on the front. Only one photo per image or frame.

ENTRY FEE, DATES AND PROCEDURE: A nonrefundable fee of $25 for members, $35 for non-members and $15 for students entitles a photographer to submit up to 10 entries. All entries are to submitted through EntryThingy, or snail-mailed on a thumb-drive and must be received by Friday, August 22. NO late entries will be accepted. Digital images sized at 2000 pixels on the LONGEST side at a resolution of 300 dpi.

CATEGORIES: *Please note. We have updated the five subject categories below. Each category is numbered. No more than two (2) pictures may be entered in a particular category; with no more than (10) pictures total. Be sure to include category number in your digital file name. Youth are encouraged to enter this competition, gauge content of your submissions accordingly.
1. NATURE — includes floral, animals, etc.
2. Portraiture — includes any people focused image

5. ABSTRACT/MACRO
6. FILM – proof of negative may be required for all accepted film entries

IF YOUR WORK IS ACCEPTED: You will receive acceptance email, shortly after jurying by August 26th.
Please deliver accepted, printed and framed photographs on September 4th-6th by 4 p.m. Label back of photograph: name, title, category and price.

YOUTH AWARD: Anyone 18 years and under competing for the youth award should indicate Youth on the entry.

JUDGING: This is a juried exhibit; entry does not guarantee acceptance into the exhibition. The jurors’ decisions are final. Please provide a valid email address to receive notification of the results, as results will not be mailed. After accepted entries have been dropped off, the judge will determine the award winners and the winners will be notified via email.

FRAMING AND SIZE REQUIREMENTS: All entries must be securely prepared and ready for display. Photographs must be matted and framed with plexiglass or glass in an enclosed 4-sided metal or wood frame, equipped with a wire hanger (NO SAWTOOTH OR ONE HOLE HANGERS). Gallery-wrapped canvas prints, metal prints, or other alternative mounting methods may be submitted without mats or frames but must include a properly installed wire hanger. Please inquire if you have questions on unique mounting. Wire hangers must not be visible while the piece is on display. Mats must be physically separate from the photographic print itself - printed white borders do not qualify as mats. Any work that does not meet these presentation standards, regardless of jury acceptance, will not be permitted in the exhibition. The minimum visible print size is 25 united inches (United inches = 1 length of visible print plus 1 width of visible print; for example, an 11 x 14 visible print size would be 25 united inches.). The maximum outside frame size is 66 united inches (add 1 length plus, 1 width of outside frame measurement).

SALES: Sales will be handled by the Wassenberg Art Center and a commission of 30% will be charged. Works not priced on entry form will be considered Not For Sale (NFS). Entry into this exhibit will be considered by the Wassenberg Art Center as a contract and agreement to these terms.

PICK-UP DATES: Photographs can be picked up after the exhibit ends during these times: Oct. 17-19.
Any entry left beyond 30 days will become the property of the Wassenberg Art Center and will be sold without commission.
