About the Juror
Barbara Grossman is a New York–based painter who studied at Cooper Union and the Akademie der Künste in Munich. Awards and honors include the Benjamin Altman Prize from the National Academy of Design, the Connecticut Commission on the Arts Fellowship, the Henry Ward Ranger Fund Purchase Award, and a Fulbright-Hayes Grant. She has taught at the Yale School of Art, the University of Pennsylvania, Brandeis University, the New York Studio School, Western Connecticut State University and the Chautauqua Institution.

Eligibility:
The exhibition is open to artists 18 years of age and older residing in the United States.
Only original artwork completed within the past three years will be considered. Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Washington Art Association & Gallery and must remain on view for the duration of the exhibition.
Original works are accepted in the following media:
Painting, Works on paper (including, but not limited to drawing, watercolor, printmaking, collage, original photography), sculpture (including, but not limited to ceramic sculpture)
Please do not submit giclées, or other reproductions of original artwork.
Entry:
All entries must be submitted online through EntryThingy.
$40 for up to three entries
Additional entries: $5 each
Maximum of six entries per artist
Entry fees are non-refundable.
Size Limit:
Artwork may not exceed 40 inches in any direction, including the frame, base, or pedestal where applicable.

Notification of Acceptance: August 24, 2026
Delivery of Accepted Work: September 8–12, 2026
Exhibition: September 19 – October 17, 2026

Pick-Up / Return Shipping: Begins October 18, 2026
Presentation Requirements:
All accepted work must be professionally presented and ready for installation.
Two-dimensional work must be securely wired and ready to hang.
Sawtooth hangers, clip frames, or other non-gallery hanging systems will not be accepted.
Mats, frames, and glazing should be clean and in good condition.
Three-dimensional work must be stable and ready for display.
Artwork that arrives damaged, is not sufficiently prepared for installation, or differs substantially from the submitted image may not be exhibited at the discretion of the gallery.
Shipping:
Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs to and from the gallery.
Shipped artwork must arrive in reusable packing materials and include a prepaid return shipping label. The gallery is not responsible for damage resulting from inadequate packing.
Sales:
All work accepted into the exhibition must be available for sale for the duration of the exhibition. The Washington Art Association & Gallery retains its standard commission of 40% on all sales.
Liability:
Every reasonable care will be taken in handling artwork while it is in the possession of the Washington Art Association & Gallery. However, artists are encouraged to maintain their own insurance coverage while artwork is in transit and on exhibition.
