OPEN CALL FOR ENTRIES
In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Viewpoint Photographic Art Center's Annual International Juried Open Call exhibit is titled SEEING AMERICA. The exhibit will be held in April 2026 during Photography Month Sacramento when the entire region celebrates photography.

SEEING AMERICA offers the opportunity for amateur and professional photographers to show their favorite visual stories captured on travels to big cities and small towns, on the ski slopes and seashores, in the corn fields and marshes of the land we call home. Every neighborhood has people with unique stories to tell, and Viewpoint wants to showcase those stories on the gallery walls. Show us the wolves of Wall Street, the rodeo cowboys, the weekend athletes, the open road or traffic jams, sidewalk encampments, street vendors, the aftermath of a weather event, or perhaps a demonstration that captures the times we live in. Viewpoint wants you to share your impressions and vision of the places, people and scenes that constitute your America.

Viewpoint welcomes your concepts, creativity and craftsmanship as you connect with the theme SEEING AMERICA. We hope you accept the challenge and enter your images of America from coast to coast, border to border, all 50 states and the U.S. territories.

SEEING AMERICA is a Juried Open Call exhibit inviting both members and non-members of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center to participate.

JUROR: Eric Lindberg
California-based photographer and writer Eric Lindberg specializes in adventure travel, domestic and world culture, small-ship cruises, wildlife, and wild places. Covering subjects ranging from foreign rail journeys and wilderness river expeditions to American road trips and urban cultural hotspots, his award-winning photos and stories have appeared in magazines, books, calendars, newspapers, tourism websites, and promotional travel publications worldwide.

Eric is a three-time recipient of the prestigious Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) Photographer of the Year award. He has received one of the top three Photographer of the Year awards for 11 of the last 14 years. Eric shoots on assignment for tourism offices, visitors’ bureaus, and adventure travel companies across the U.S. and Canada to provide compelling destination imagery for publication. HOW TO SUBMIT IMAGES
1. Download the Prospectus. It will NOT be available online after the Call ends. If your work is accepted for the exhibit, you will need a printed copy of the Print Identification Sheet which is the last page of this Prospectus and the requirements described below.

2. The maximum print size including the mat is 18 x 24 inches. Square images can be a maximum of 20 x 20 inches. For prints not presented in traditional gallery mats (e.g., prints on aluminum), the maximum overall size is 18 x 24 inches. NEW: Image printing and matting will be available through Viewpoint. Information will be provided to photographers whose images are selected for the exhibit.

3. Prepare the digital file(s) to the following specifications:
-File type: jpeg format
-Color space: sRGB
-Image Quality: High
-File size: Less than 2 MB (1024 pixels on longer side dimension at 72 dpi)
-File Name: Descriptive image title without your name. For example: dinnerwithandre.jpg
File name should not contain your name, capitals, spaces, or any of these special characters !#%^@+,;:=() or periods other than the one before the file extension (jpg). Hyphens and underscore are okay. Do not watermark the image.
-Image Description: Maximum 200 characters describing the image - can include location, subject matter, or any other information that helps bring the image to life.

4. Begin your entry submission through the Viewpoint website Exhibits>Call for Entries using EntryThingy. Log in. If you encounter problems with EntryThingy, contact [email protected] with Subject: AMERICA for assistance.

5. Upload jpeg image file(s) to EntryThingy. The jpeg thumbnail(s) will be used for judging and for Viewpoint's online gallery and sales. Judging is anonymous. Do not sign or watermark your thumbnail image.

6. Purchase price or Not For Sale (NFS). A $75 minimum for the sale price is recommended.

7. The entry fee must be paid at the time your entry is completed on EntryThingy. The entry fee is non-refundable.

8. All images will be juried as submitted in electronic format. The decisions of the juror and Viewpoint are final.

9. Submissions deadline is Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST. Email any questions to [email protected] with AMERICA in the subject heading.

10. Email notifications for accepted and non-accepted entries will be sent from EntryThingy on March 23 & 24, 2026.

CONTRACTUAL INFORMATION
1. You must be the creator and owner of the copyright for all images you submit. You will retain copyright of all images, but you are permitting Viewpoint Photographic Art Center to display images on our website and use them to publicize and promote SEEING AMERICA for no extra fees or royalties. Publicity use may include, but is not limited to, publication in any printed materials, advertisements, catalogs, and electronic media, including Viewpoint's website.

2. Artwork submitted for SEEING AMERICA must be created by the person entering the photographic image/artwork and the artist shall be responsible for all appropriate permission(s) for the use and sale of the image submitted.

3. Final acceptance of entries in SEEING AMERICA is at the Curatorial Committee's discretion after viewing the prints. If a print does not match the appearance of the submitted image file, or if the print quality or presentation is not suitable for exhibition, Viewpoint may request a correction or may decline to exhibit the print.

4. For prints that sell, Viewpoint will split the purchase price the artist with 50% to the artist and 50% to Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. Checks for the artists portion will be mailed 30 days after the close of the exhibit.

5. Any disputes over an image will result in the image being removed immediately from the gallery.

6. As the artist, you are solely responsible for the cost, care, protection, and insurance of your artwork during shipment to and from Viewpoint. Artwork or accessory submitted for this show will be treated with the utmost care, but Viewpoint's responsibility and liability arising from or connected with damage, loss, carelessness, fire, theft, or any other cause whatsoever is limited to the artist's commission (50%) of the retail value of the work submitted.

7. Multiple copies of images/work will be sold by Viewpoint only if the artist agrees to deliver finished prints to the gallery within two weeks of the exhibits conclusion. The gallery will then fulfill the orders. Unsold exhibited prints must be picked up between May 6 to June 13, 2026 (unless shipping has been arranged).

8. Any work exhibited in SEEING AMERICA that is not retrieved by August 2, 2026 becomes the property of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. Artwork submitted with return shipping will be shipped by May 23, 2026.

9. Upon submitting your image(s), you are declaring that your submission(s) meet Viewpoint's guidelines and that you are agreeing to these terms.
