OPEN CALL FOR MEMBER ENTRIES
Each year Viewpoint Photographic Art Center celebrates the outstanding artistic talents and creativity of its members by hosting the annual Members' Exhibit. This year's event will hopefully signal a resumption of many member activities. With the absence of Print Night, Portfolio Night, Member Receptions and in person workshops due to pandemic protocols, members have had few opportunities to share creative efforts and ideas.

Viewpoint members are invited to submit one of their photographs for display. New work that has not been displayed previously at Viewpoint or other galleries is preferred. Submissions are not limited to a particular theme or form of photography. The exhibit will showcase the wide variety of photographic interests among the members.
All entrants to the 2021 Members' Exhibit must be current members of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center or new members enrolled prior to the submission of any work. New members or members with outstanding dues are encouraged to pay membership fees online at the Viewpoint website prior to their print submission.
Exhibition display space in the Main and Step Up galleries is limited, therefore, only the first 100 entries that meet the submission criteria will be accepted. A member may be placed on a waiting list for entries submitted after the maximum number of photographs and entry forms have been accepted.

Entering the 2021 Members' Exhibit is a two-step process.
(1) Register your photographic entry online from May 24 to June 19, 2021 using this link to EntryThingy found on the Viewpoint website under Call for Entries. The entry fee for the Members' Exhibit is $25. The fee is due with the registration on EntryThingy. A thumbnail image of the print is also required at the time of the entry registration.
(2) After registering your submission on EntryThingy, take or ship your print to Viewpoint during the print submission period. The submission period for prints for the Members' Exhibit, 2021 is from Thursday, May 27 to Saturday, June 19, 2021 during gallery hours. If you are unable to deliver your print to the Viewpoint, ship it to David Wong, 13580 N. Meadow View Drive, Grass Valley, California 95945 during the submission period. Please include return shipping.

EXHIBIT DETAILS: The 2021 Members' Exhibit will run from July 6 through August 7, 2021. Due to the prevailing local pandemic protocols for businesses and public gatherings, Viewpoint Photographic Art Center hours are currently limited. Check the website for current hours of operation. We will provide updates and details regarding an Artists Reception as we draw closer to the opening date. Please review the Submission Specifications and Contractual issue section. The specifications ensure sufficient space to hang accepted artwork and to ensure a high level of presentation of all artwork. SPECIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSIONS
Please review the specifications carefully. Submissions that are not in compliance with the specification will not be accepted for the exhibition.
1. Members' Exhibit, 2021 is an open call for all members of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center to submit one image. The maximum size including the mat is 22 x 28 inches. For prints not presented in traditional gallery mats (e.g., prints on aluminum), the maximum overall size is also 22 x 28 inches. For panoramic prints 28 inches in length is the size limit.
2. All submissions must be registered online through the Viewpoint website under Call for Entries using EntryThingy (www.viewpointgallery.org/exhibit/calls).
Submissions must be registered by Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. PDT.
3. You may submit only one image. A diptych, triptych, etc., counts as one image and should be submitted as one file.
4. The entry fee of $25 must be paid at the time the print is registered on EntryThingy. The entry fee is non-refundable.
DIGITAL FILE PREPARATION
All work available for sale will be sold through Viewpoint's online gallery. Exhibited work that is Not For Sale (NFS) will also be shown in the online gallery. The artist will be responsible for providing a digital image with the entry registration through EntryThingy with the following specifications for file preparation.
1. Prepare digital files as JPEG format and the sRGB Color Space with Image Quality set to High. Each image should be at least 1200 pixels in the longer side dimension, and no larger than 2 MB.
2. Do not watermark the image.
3. Give the submitted image file a descriptive title that is 29 characters or fewer for online viewing along with your last name. Example: smith_gene_duneshadowdeathvalley.jpg
File name should not contain capitals, spaces, or any of these special characters !#%^@+,;:=() or periods other than the one before the jpg file extension. Hyphens and underscore are okay in the title.
7. In the EntryThingy registration with your digital file include the following:
-Title of Print (For vertical images the online title limitation is 29 characters)
-Title of Print for printed gallery label if different from online title
-Artist's name
-Photographic medium
-Mat size, measured in Width by Height (For example: 8 inches wide by 10 inches high)
-Image size, measured in Width by Height (For example: 11 inches wide by 14 inches high)
-Total number of prints available for purchase including the exhibited print
-Purchase price or Not For Sale (NFS)
8. DOWNLOAD the Prospectus. It will NOT be available on line after the Call ends.

CONTRACTUAL INFORMATION
1. You must be the creator and owner of the copyright for the image you submit. You will retain copyright of the image, but you are permitting Viewpoint Photographic Art Center to display the image on our website and use it to publicize and promote Members' Exhibit, 2021 for no extra fees or royalties. Publicity use may include, but is not limited to, publication in any printed materials, advertisements, electronic media, catalog, and viewpointgallery.org.
2. Artwork submitted for the 2021 Members' Exhibit must be created by the person entering the photographic image/artwork and the artist shall be responsible for all appropriate permission(s) for the use and sale of the image submitted.
3. For prints that sell, Viewpoint will split the purchase price with fifty percent (50%) to the artist and fifty percent (50%) to the Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. Checks for the artist's share will be mailed within 30 days of the close of the exhibit.
4. Any disputes over an image will result in the image being removed immediately from the gallery.
5. As the artist, you are solely responsible for the cost, care, protection, and insurance of your artwork during shipment to and from Viewpoint. Artwork or accessory submitted for this show will be treated with the utmost care, but Viewpoint's responsibility and liability arising from or connected with damage, loss, carelessness, fire, theft, or any other cause whatsoever is limited to the artist's commission (50%) of the retail value of the work submitted.
6. Multiple copies of images/work will be sold by Viewpoint only if the artist agrees to deliver finished prints to the gallery within two weeks of the exhibit's conclusion, at which time the gallery will fulfill the orders.
7. Any work not retrieved by September 11, 2021 becomes the property of Viewpoint.
8. Upon registering and submitting your image, you are declaring that your submission meets Viewpoint's guidelines and that you are agreeing to the published terms.
