OPEN CALL FOR ENTRIES
As part of Photography Month Sacramento, Viewpoint Photographic Art Center is sponsoring an OPEN CALL exhibit for April 2022. The theme of this juried exhibit, Art from Art, celebrates artful photographs whose subjects originated in works created by other artmakers. For example, subjects might be captured from graffiti, murals, signs, statues, cemetery markers, art installations, antiques, sidewalk chalk art, neon, tapestry, tattoos, or even other photographs. The camera phone is one of the most effective means of capturing these gems. It is handy, easy to use and always with you. Viewpoint encourages camera phone use, but also welcomes all forms of image capture including the phone, DSLR, large format, Holga, or pinhole cameras. Art from Art is open to all entrants. Viewpoint membership is not a prerequisite for entry. Viewpoint welcomes your creativity and craft in interpreting the theme, Art from Art. Awards for this exhibit total over $1000.

ABOUT THE JUROR
Henry Paine is the juror for ART FROM ART. He recently retired from his establishment in Stockton, CA. 'Henry Paine Camera Repair and Photography' after many years of sharing his knowledge and expertise of cameras, lens, and fine art photographic prints. A constant art exhibitor in the region, Paine has few peers among black and white photographers and his mastery of Appropriated Art is renowned. A true craftsman in the traditional darkroom, his digital darkroom skills are unparalleled. Paine's style and vision are consistent through his four-decade progression from large format view cameras to the iPhone camera that he carries in his shirt pocket. Paine's compositional sense approaches as close to perfection as any photographer is allowed. While his own work is black and white photography, Paine has a keen appreciation for work achieved in color.
Paine is a Charter Member of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center and an invaluable member of the Installation Crew as well as a regular at Print Night critiques.
