We are looking for local LA artists with pieces (new or old) which explore the concept of lingering. Themes could include: staying, stopping, remaining, holding back, pausing, rest before movement, the end of the celebration, silence, calm after the climax, home, consideration of place, presence, retention, left overs, assemblage, etc.
While the holidays are now approaching, we are considering what it looks like at the end of the celebration, before a return to normal life. In Jewish tradition, the high holidays are rounded out with a day called “Shemini Atzeret” which means “the eighth day of assembly.” Because it is on the eighth day and outside of the usual 7 day cycle of a week, it is considered an extra day to gather before we separate---a special time to remain present with each other and with God. What does it look like to recognize the sacredness of a moment even as its passing, to stick around after the party is over, to reflect before rushing to whatever is next?
Accepted artworks will shown in our fall show. All mediums are accepted (including visual arts, poetry, music, etc). This show is open to all local LA artists.
The exhibition will run from October 17th to December 4th, 2026 with an opening reception. Chosen artists will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work as well as participate in exhibit-related events.
