Categories:

Advertising ? Suggested entries include art for newspapers and magazines, posters for films, TV, and publications, packaging for video and music products, brochures, billboards, and POP display.

Book Cover, Adult ? Suggested entries include art appearing on the cover of adult books.

Book Cover, Children?s ? Suggested entries include art appearing on the cover of children?s books.

Book Interior, Adult - Suggested entries include art appearing inside adult books.

Book Interior, Children's - Suggested entries include art appearing inside children?s books.

Comics/Graphic Novels ? Suggested entries include covers and individual pages from comics and graphic novels.

Concept Art ? Suggested entries include conceptual work created for films, TV programs, theater, and video games.

Editorial ? Suggested entries include art appearing in magazines and newspapers.

Institutional ? Suggested entries include art appearing in connection with announcements, annual reports, calendars, greeting cards, posters, plates, website graphics, collectables, and any other venue not obviously covered by the other categories.

Dimensional ? Suggested entries include sculpture, paper craft, origami, etc.


Scoring:

Scoring will be generated by a combination of points earned through ranking by the judges. Judges will be judging on a 1-5 point scale, where 1 designates the lowest number of points awarded in a given category, and 5 is the highest. The categories of judging will be:

Theme: Awareness and originality in the theme. Example: If a piece is created, but the only way the judge can tell it meets the theme is buy reading the description or title, it will rank lower than a piece that obviously meets the theme.

Category: Awareness and appropriateness of the image to the category the piece is entered in. Example: If an fully executed illustration is placed into the concept category, it will be ranked lower than a piece that looks like a piece rendered for use as part of the pre-production phase of a video game.

Originality: Originality and innovation in story telling, presentation, narrative, ideation, or concept. Example: An illustration of a known dragon will be ranked lower than a re-interpretation or a new expression of a dragon. If we've seen it before...it'll ranked lower than a fresh vision.

Technical Skill: While technical proficiency is not a prerequisite to participate in in ArtOrder challenges, technical proficiency does have a place in our world, and should be encouraged and rewarded. This category is often the tie breaker, when trying to decide between excellence.

Submissions & Costs:

Submissions should be made by following the Challenge Submissions link in the top nav, sign into EntryThingy, and submit your works.

Important Notes and Tips about the submission process:
? Submission costs are $5 per category.
? You can submit up to 20 images per category for the single fee.
? ALL images should be submitted at the same time!
? Once you hit 'Submit' you will be charged. If you want to submit images later, the system will charge you again.
? If you wish to enter images in separate categories, you must complete separate submissions. You will be charged $5 for each category.
? If you would like to have your email included in the details presented in the gallery, please include the information in your image details as part of the submissions process.

Medium: open to all visual mediums.
Image Format: any ? portrait, landscape, etc.
Size: minimum of 2000 pixels on it?s shortest size.
File Format: jpg, highest quality
