'Honoring The Feminine' - (A 6000 Circles Project) - A Member Only Exhibit
SCWCA is collaborating with The Calling, organized in 2020 'believe in supporting the expression of feminine energy, nourishing creativity, cultivating collaboration' whose latest program, The 6000 Circles Project, focuses on the circle as a symbol of balance and unity. The Calling envisions 6000 circles; created by artists of all genders from around the globe gathering and making circles for a series of interactive public and digital installations. SCWCA will share digital images of 'Honoring The Feminine' circles with The Calling during their 9 month long project.
There are TWO criteria for 'Honoring The Feminine' call for art.
ONE: the substrate (underlayer) for the artwork MUST be circular (the circle as a symbol of balance and unity, a never ending container of feminine energy and light). The finished shape of 2D artwork MUST be a circle. 3D ARTWORK MUST HAVE A CIRCULAR COMPONENT.
TWO: the artwork must reflect and honor the feminine journey.
Possible topics for creative exploration include but are not limited to: Feminine archetypes and symbols, ancestry and culture, women rights and gender Issues, women in history and women in the arts, and cultural stories.

Acceptance Notices: Wednesday, March 27
Deliver Art: Saturday, March 30, 10:30am
Potluck Opening Reception: Saturday, April 6, 2-4pm

Pick Up Artwork: Immediately following closing
ARTWORK FORMAT, PRESENTATION & REQUIREMENTS: Artwork submissions are limited to 3 original artworks per artist as JPEGs. Name JPEG files: Artist last name and title plus dimensions. Example: Smith_funhouse10x12.jpg. Do not use double quotation marks, colons or semicolons in names. Submit JPEGs sized at 300 dpi resolution. Attach a label to the back of your artwork with title, artist name and contact information. Artists MUST hand deliver (NO SHIPPING) their accepted entry to Range Projects Gallery.
MINIMUM DIAMETER FOR A CIRCLE IS 8 INCHES. MAXIMUM DIAMETER FOR A CIRCLE IS 24 INCHES. FOR 2D WORK A CIRCLE MUST BE THE FINISHED SHAPE OF YOUR WORK (Please do not place your circle in a square/rectangle frame.). 2D wall hanging art may have a 3-dimensional aspect to it. 3D ARTWORK MUST HAVE A CIRCULAR COMPONENT. Artists may incorporate any medium or materials. The sky is the limit. Questions: email [email protected]
HANGING: All 2D work MUST be ready to hang. If you are unable to attach wire, D rings or any other kind of hanging mechanism to your work, our installer will use magnets, push pins or double face tape to hang work. If you have specific instructions on how to hang your artwork, please include this information along with your work at dropoff. Questions: email [email protected]
ENTRIES & FEES: Entry fee is $40 for 1-3 entries. EVERY ARTIST WILL HAVE AT LEAST ONE CIRCLE ACCEPTED INTO 'HONORING THE FEMININE'. Payment is made through entrythingy via credit card. Fees are non-refundable. This is a SCWCA membership show. Membership is open to all self-identified women artists in Southern California. To become a member of SCWCA go to www.nationalwca.org to join and be sure to select CAS as the chapter.
SALES and INSURANCE: All sales will be handled by the gallery. 60% to artists 40% to the gallery. No insurance is provided. Artists are advised to insure their artwork.
SUBMISSION CRITERIA AND CONTENT: Entries must be original and executed by the artist. Once submitted, artwork may not be substituted or withdrawn by the artist. All artwork must remain at Range Project until the end of the exhibit.
We reserve the right not to hang artwork prepared in a way that risks being damaged during installation (too much weight, fragility or not prepared to hang). SCWCA and Range Projects Gallery are not liable for artwork left at the gallery.
