Animal House is an animal theme art show entries are open to all media with an animal theme. This show includes a youth category.

I am first an artist! A figurative artist… a modernist realist figurative artist… I prefer to be painting/drawing and doing anything creative on any day of any week… I paint the places, people and animals I see where ever I go… if I have a wonderful scene without people I'll add people from my travels into the scene… like… place a person I captured in Amsterdam into a scene in Spain. I love to do an underpainting on many pieces and for oils I use acrylic paint to do the underpainting and will leave part of the underpainting showing thru to help tell the story... When using soft pastels my underpainting is either watercolor or soft pastels with an alcohol wash. On both my underpainting is more abstract as are the backgrounds for most paintings.

My studio is my favorite place to be and second would be outside in the world looking for my next story to tell… Paintings that are predominately of people engaged in some activity have come about from asking if they'll model for me to paint them… usually that means for them to resume what they were doing when they caught my eye… it's amazing how so many wonderful people are willing to stop what they're doing and help me create a scene for the sake of art.

I can't imagine a life any better than the one I live and I hope you enjoy the stories I create through my art.

Online Entry Fees:
Members: $20 each, or 3 for $50
Non-Members: $25 each or 3 for $60
Youth: $15 each or 3 for $40

Maximum of 3 pieces per artist may be submitted.

EXHIBITION SPECIFICATIONS

Submit only original work that was finished in the last three years. Original works means no class or workshop art, no copies, giclees or enhanced giclees or works by any commercial printing process (except for photography); no crafts; no copyrighted works; and no works previously shown in a juried show at Sac Arts. Accepted work must be exactly as presented online. ALL WORK MUST BE FOR SALE.

All canvas works must have finished edges and any works less than 3/4 gallery-wrapped, must be framed. All other hanging works must have clean edges and be framed unless they are 3-D. All hanging pieces must be wired using only D rings and the wire ends must be taped. (No protruding nails, staples or sawtooth hangers may be used.) Works with glass must have rigid frames. Works exceeding 29? x 35? must use plastic rather than glass. WORK MAY NOT EXCEED 4X8 FT.

Sculptures over 50 lbs. must be set up by the artist. Installations must meet OSHA, fire and safety codes and free standing work must be stable and safe for viewing.

Be sure the following information is placed on the back of 2-D works and the bottoms or backs of 3-D works: Name, address, phone # and email of artist, title of piece, size of piece, media and price.

Shipped work must be received no later than the receiving date. The artist is to be responsible to initiate and pay for all shipping charges.

LIABILITY:
The Sacramento Fine Arts Center will be diligent in care of artwork but is not responsible for loss or damage that might occur. Insurance is the responsibility of each artist.

COMMISSION:
Sacramento Fine Arts Center will retain commissions on work sold. 50% for nonmembers, 30% members.
Artist should adjust prices accordingly.

UPON Entry I an in AGREEMENT that I have read and agree to abide by all exhibit rules. I waive any and all claims against the SAC ARTS and individuals associated with the exhibition. Submitted art is my original work and has never been shown at SAC ARTS.

My work may be reproduced for publicity.
